M219 :: Diced by mr-MINTJAM M219 :: Diced by mr-MINTJAM
Taken August 7th, 2010.

A good shot today, worked wonderfully. I wanted more dice to join this lone die, but I couldn't find anymore.

Wow, this looks great!
It's so intriguing - I'm just sitting here going "what does it mean?"
The focus and DOF are really good, and I love the reflection.
Also, the bokeh is fantastic - I usualy dislike backgrounds that are blurred out like this, but it's just so fitting here.
I love the choice of the pink leather (is it leather?) - it complements the white of the die wonderfully.
Oh, and the composition's awesome too. I especially like how the die is slightly off-centre.

The only thing I would say could be improved is that there are some blueish tints in the upper background. They seem a bit out of place, because the rest of the image has a more pink-brown colour scheme.

Apart from that, I think this is a gorgeous photograph. =)

Thank you. I have my own private meaning for it, but I'm always curious to what other people see in it.

You're welcome.
What I think of is how the red cloth is representing "life", and basically, underneath life and all its splendour (the lights), it's really just a game of chance- because rolling a dice is pretty much about chance. I can't really put it into better words, it sounds more logical in my head. :lol:

My main reason for coming up with this was because I wanted to use the shiny props behind it to make bokeh. Wonderful ideas come from collecting random, interesting things from around the house.

very good focus.
I'd maybe have cut it more square-like.

I usually crop to square, but I felt this one looked better as it was.

A very nice shot - and I wouldn't worry about the lone die, this came out beautifully. I'd be afraid, personally, that adding more might make this image a bit too busy, when the aim seems to be simplicity.
